Mannion Prior, LLP receives a Tier 1 ranking in Trusts and Estates Law in the 2017 edition of "Best Law Firms" by U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers.

Mannion Prior, LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has again been named as one of Philadelphia’s distinguished law firms by U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers. The firm has received a Tier 1 ranking in Trusts and Estates Law in the 2017 edition of "Best Law Firms," an honor the firm has previously received in the re-categorized area of Litigation – Trusts and Estates in 2016 and 2015. According to U.S. News, the 2017 firms "are recognized for professional excellence with persistently impression ratings from clients and peers. Achieving a tiered ranking signals a unique combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal expertise."

Mannion Prior, LLP is pleased to announce that Jennifer "Jenn" DiVeterano Gayle has been named a Partner at the Firm.

Jenn joined Mannion Prior in the fall of 2007. Jenn earned her B.A. in History from Ursinus College in 2004, graduating magna cum laude with Distinguished Honors in History. In 2007, she received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Villanova University School of Law, where she served as Managing Editor of Outside Articles for the Villanova Law Review. In the summer of 2005, Jenn clerked for the Honorable Anthony A. Sarcione of the Chester County Court of Common Pleas. Jenn's practice is concentrated in litigation involving trusts, estates, guardianships and other fiduciary matters. Jenn was selected for inclusion in the 2015 "Lawyers on the Fast Track" by The Legal Intelligencer, an American Law Journal. Jenn is one of forty attorneys from around the state honored for their promotion of the legal profession and their outstanding contributions to the legal community and the community at large. Jenn is a member of the Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Montgomery Bar Associations. Jenn also serves as a volunteer child advocate for the Montgomery County Child Advocacy Project.

Mannion Prior, LLP is pleased to announce that Jennifer D. Gayle was selected for inclusion as 2015 “Lawyers on the Fast Track” by The Legal Intelligencer, an American Law Journal.

Jennifer is one of forty attorneys from around the state being honored for their promotion of the legal profession and their outstanding contributions to the legal community and the community at large.

Jennifer’s practice focuses on litigation involving trusts, estates, guardianships and powers of attorney, including all forms of estate and trust disputes, will contests, surcharge and removal actions, interpretation issues, and other fiduciary matters before the Orphans’ Court Division of the Court of Common Pleas and the Register of Wills.

Jennifer has served as an author and panelist on various Pennsylvania Bar Institute Seminars on the utilization of experts in Orphans’ Court litigation, as well as collection of Orphans’ Court judgments. In addition, Jennifer has written about the authority granted to plenary guardians of the person. She is a member of the Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Montgomery Bar Associations, and the Orphans’ Court Litigation Committee of the Probate and Trust Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association.

Mannion Prior, LLP has been ranked in the 2015 "Best Law Firms" by U.S. News and World Report and Best Lawyers.

Mannion Prior was recognized as a Tier 1 firm in the metropolitan designation for their work in Litigation-Trust and Estate in Philadelphia.

Firms included in the 2015 "Best Law Firms" list are recognized for professional excellence and are based on client and lawyer evaluations and peer reviews from leading attorneys in their field. Clients and peers were asked to provide feedback regarding the following criteria: expertise, responsiveness, understanding of a business and its needs, cost-effectiveness, civility, and whether they would refer another client to the firm.

12,605 firms were eligible for ranking, 12,095 firms received rankings, and only 8,077 of those firms received Tier 1 national and/or metropolitan rankings.

The 2015 "Best Law Firms" national rankings include 74 practice areas and the metropolitan lists covers 120 practice areas.


Mannion Prior, LLP is pleased to announce that Obadiah "Obie" English has been named a Partner at the Firm.

Obie joined Mannion Prior, LLP in the fall of 2009 and his practice is concentrated in litigation involving trusts, estates, guardianships and other fiduciary matters. Obie also counsels clients on select matters related to commercial and general civil litigation. He has represented both individuals and corporate clients in a variety of matters in the Orphans' Court and the Civil Division of the Court of Common Pleas of Pennsylvania, including will and trust disputes, probate disputes and fiduciary surcharge actions. He has also appeared before the Appellate Courts of Pennsylvania. Obie is Treasurer of the Montgomery Bar Association's Probate & Tax Section and an active member of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Probate and Trust Law Section, and the Bucks County Bar Association's Orphans' Court Section. Obie earned his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law, and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wake Forest University. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of both Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

James Mannion was appointed Amicus Curiae in the Girard College Case.

In accordance with the 1831 Will of Stephen Girard, founder and benefactor of Girard College of Philadelphia, Orphans’ Court Administrative Judge Joseph O’Keefe ruled that the Board of Directors of City Trusts could not eliminate the high school and boarding programs.
